Things to Do
If you love riparian nature but want to keep your feet dry, stroll along the Turkey Creek Nature Trail boardwalk. You're likely to encounter wildlife from hundreds of species, and you can compare notes with a picnic lunch at the charming pavilion afterward. While the water is always chilly, locals love to paddle their kayaks or stand-up paddleboards year-round, and there's easy access to a launch.
There are dozens of sportfishing charters in the area if you want to bring home some fresh seafood, and species include grouper, bass, and sea trout. There are also excellent fly fishing gamefish, from bonefish and tarpon to permit and mullet.
