Destin attracts people of all ages and from all backgrounds. There are exceptional restaurants, abundant shopping—from gourmet groceries to the latest home and clothing fashions—and a vibrant resort atmosphere. If you plan to visit Destin, you'll find it hard to leave.
Dining, Entertainment, & Shopping
The most popular restaurant in Destin—and some say, the entire panhandle—is Boshamp's Seafood and Oyster House. Serving southern seafood dishes and fresh oysters on the half shell, this sprawling, casual restaurant has two full bars, outdoor seating, live music, and the perfect location on Destin Harbor.
Beer and ale aficionados flock to McGuire's Irish Pub for their handcrafted brews, top-notch steaks, and live entertainment. However, this isn't your typical pub. While some of the menu items might be traditional bar fare, McGuires takes it to the next level. There are two floors, with the second looking down on the crowds and live entertainment.
If you're in the mood for shopping, HarborWalk Village has a little of everything in a bustling, fun, and scenic location. It's also the perfect place to people-watch. But if you want a less touristy scene, Destin Commons is home to several upscale boutiques and chain retailers. You can outfit your new home and add to your wardrobe at this charming, open-air mall.
Things to Do
There are a ton of activities and attractions that make Destin exciting. You'll want to return to HarborWalk Village if you want to book a sightseeing boat tour or a fishing charter, and you can also challenge yourself on their climbing wall and zipline.
Or go to Big Kahuna's Water & Adventure Park for a fun-filled day of racing down their water slides or chilling out on their lazy river inner tube float. If you don’t want to get wet, there are dozens of other attractions, from roller coasters to classic theme park food.
Do you have your own boat? Bring it to Destin, or charter one for the annual Fishing Rodeo, just one of many angling competitions in the area. Or, if you prefer more turf than surf in your sporting activities, check out one of many local golfing clubs and communities.
And then there's Crab Island, a shallow sandbar where boaters and swimmers congregate in one big party. There are even floating snack bars.
